Dear Parents,

On August 21st, there will be a total solar eclipse.  The peak of the eclipse will be around 10:15 a.m. in Northern California.  Teachers that are planning on teaching the students about the event, have developed safe plans that are developmentally appropriate for the different grade levels.

Here are a few websites that Dr. Eaton, our superintendent, has shared.

The link below is an overview of when the eclipse will take place on the 21st and how it will look:

Here is some information about safety in viewing an eclipse.  It will be important that any staff members who are having their students view an eclipse be familiar with these safety tips:

Because not all classes are doing the same lesson on the eclipse, we will advise all students that they are not to look at the sun during the actual eclipse unless their teachers provided them the approved safety sunglasses.

Thank you!

Queridos padres,

New Car Seat Law

Effective January 1, 2017, children under the age of 2 will be required to sit in a rear-facing car seat.

This new rule will not apply to children under the age of 2, who weigh 40+ pounds or are 40+ inches tall.

Parking Lot and Pick Up Loop

Traffic Safety Update

The City of Brentwood has committed to adding a double yellow line on Farmington in order to show where cars should not pass while entering the school parking lot.  There have been too many near misses with people trying to pass while a car ahead of them is making a left turn into the parking lot.

There will be more curbs painted red in order to avoid creating blind spots.  Also, the City has applied for a grant to get flashing signs to indicate pedestrian traffic near the school

Important reminders

Please DO NOT drop off or pick up your child in the parking lot by the cross walk.

You must park your car and walk them over if you are going to use the parking lot.

Look at our new Ball Walls

The incredible juniors from Liberty's Public Art and Design Academy (PADA), came out during their summer vacation to help Mary Casey Black Elementary students, coordinated by Sandy Chaput and Alisha Douglass, to paint the school's mascot on the handball walls.

The high school students showed the elementary students the process for creating a mural. Everyone is proud of the end result.

Go Owls and Lions!
